Albert "Al" William Herbold, 71, of Pierson, Iowa, passed away unexpectantly at the farm on Friday, November 22, 2013.Albert was born February 13, 1942 in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Caroline (Knaack) Herbold. He attended Pierson High School excelling in basketball, baseball and track, graduating in 1960.He married Diana Pease on June 11, 1961 and to this marriage three children were born, Kristy, Kent and Karmen. He later married Rita Barker on September 27, 1996.He farmed in the Pierson and Correctionville area and later retiring to the century farm. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona during the winters. He also enjoyed serving on the Woodbury Count REC and Pierson Elevator Boards.He was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville and was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. His hobbies included fishing, mowing the lawn at the farm, harvest time with Darrell Susie and spending time with his children, grandchildren and two pets.Survivors include his wife, Rita; son, Kent & Tammi Herbold of Spencer, IA; daughters, Kristy & Steve Nelson of Chamberlain, SD and Karmen & James Hodgdon of Cherokee, IA; ten grandchildren, Adam & Jessica Nelson, Zachary & Valerie Nelson, Stevie & Chris Bredeson, Brett & Christine Herbold, Candi Lee, Chanel & Jeremy Tongish, Corey Lee, Madison, Josie and Jacob Hodgdon; eight great grandchildren; foster daughter, Mary Heinen of Fresno, CA; brothers, Donald & Judy Herbold of Sioux City, IA and David "Pete" & Dawn Herbold of Riverton, WY.He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Caroline Herbold.Memorials in Al's name can be made to the Pierson Ambulance/Rescue Squad. .
