Florence Becker

Kingsley, Iowa - Florence M. Becker, 94, of Kingsley, Iowa passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley. Rev. Mark J. Stoll will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. A Rosary Service will take place at 5:30 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Monday. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Renee Thurber, Lyndsey Defoor, Michelle Plendl and Bobbette Burchfield. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Clay Fey, Jayson Haggin, Robby Haggin, Jeff Haggin, Ryan Haggin, Brent Dvorak, Robert Becker and Justin Becker.
Florence Ditter was born December 21, 1917 near Farmer, South Dakota to Frank and Elizabeth (Fritschen) Ditter. She was raised in the Farmer area and attended St. Peter's Parochial Elementary School and graduated from Edgerton Consolidated High School in Farmer, South Dakota in 1935.
Florence was united in marriage to Robert Becker on November 10, 1937 in Farmer, South Dakota. The couple moved to Kingsley in 1946. Mr. Becker passed away in 1978.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, the Catholic Women's League of Sioux City, former member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Sioux City where she had served as an officer. Florence had worked in retail sales in Sioux City for 26 years. After her retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer for the A.I.D. Center, worked at the Sgt. Floyd Tourism Center, and the Bargain Center until her health prevented her from continuing her volunteer work; Florence had served on the Board of Directors for the Bargain Center for six years. She continued to do sewing in her home for the Bargain Center until 2009. Florence enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards, dancing, and traveling. She had made and donated many lap robes to area shut-ins and nursing homes.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jeanine Haggin of Kingsley, Iowa; two sons, Todd Becker and his wife Deb of Plano, Texas and William "Bill" Becker of Phoenix, AZ; two sons-in-law, Bill Fey of Glendale, California and Paul Dvorak of Plano, TX; four granddaughters and ten grandsons; nine great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; a sister-in-law Margaret Ditter of Kingsley, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughters, Laurali Fey and Trudy Rae Dvorak; a brother, Arnold Ditter; sisters and their husbands, Lucille and Ed Doyle and Loretta and Don Engewis; grandsons, Jayme Becker and Nicholas Becker; twin grandsons, Kendall and Brayden Burchfield; and a son-in-law Art "Butch" Haggin.
