Betty Ruth (Leonard) Ohlendorf was born March 29, 1932 and died November 2, 2025. She was married to Vernon L. Ohlendorf for 72 years. He preceded her in death.

Betty will be buried next to Vernon at the Kingsley Cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa at 12:30 p.m. on Friday May 1, 2026.  A time of food and fellowship will follow at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley.

Betty is survived by her sister June Law, children Kirk V. Ohlendorf and Debra J. Soucy, five grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Correctionville High School in Correctionville, Iowa. She attended Wayne State College where she met Vernon. She later graduated from nursing school in California.

Betty loved being a nurse and particularly obstetrics. She also enjoyed working at a nursing home. Her concern for others was evident in her patient care giving.

After retiring, she spent much of her time painting in oils and acrylics. Her family still enjoys her artwork.

She was a member of the Lutheran church. She taught Sunday school. She also was a den mother for her daughter’s scout troop.

She enjoyed shopping and eating out with her family. She took many memorable vacations including the Hawaiian Islands and Europe with Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Marguerite Leonard of Correctionville, IA.
