Betty LouElla Rickett age 84 of Kingsley, IA passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026 at Kingsley Specialty Care in Kingsley, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2026 at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, IA with Pastor Jason Letsche officiating. Burial will follow at The Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 4-6 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley, Iowa. kingsleyfh.com.
Betty Bauer, was born June 17, 1941, in Cherokee, IA , the daughter of Wyndham and Dorothy (Helkenn) Bauer. She was raised on a farm in rural Kingsley and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1960. On November 27, 1960, she married Walter George Rickett at First Lutheran Church- Kingsley. The couple farmed south of Kingsley where they raised their family.
Over the years Betty was a homemaker, worked on the farm and at Kmart Eatery. Betty belonged to First Lutheran Church in Kingsley where she was a past Sunday School teacher. She currently belonged to the First Lutheran Church Quilters. Betty bowled for over fifty years and was Secretary-Treasurer of the bowling league. In past years she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and Cancer Chairman for the southeast area of Plymouth County. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading during her quiet time. Betty was also an avid sports fan, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes and Kingsley-Pierson Panthers. Above all she loved spending time with her family and playing cards.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 65 years, Walter of Kingsley, Iowa; their children; Daniel (Sheryl) Rickett of Huntington, IN, Deborah Rickett of Sioux Falls, SD, Donna (Kerry) Keck of Kingsley, IA; four grandchildren, Justin (McKenna), Marina, Nathan (Tabitha), and Courtney (Derik); four great-grand children with one on the way; her sister, Carol Cadwell of Sarasota, FL; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy (Karel) Grant; father and mother-in-law, George and Susie Rickett.
Casket bearers will be Justin Keck, Nathan Keck, Derik Heinold, Dale Nelson, Raymond Helkenn and Ryan Hutchinson.
