Brian D. Gesink, 66, passed away Saturday. October 12, 2024, at UnityPoint in Sioux City, IA, surrounded by family following a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Brian was born on September 16, 1958, in Sioux Center, IA to Elmer and Audrey (Boone) Gesink.
Brian and Nancy Schnee were united in marriage on February 13, 1988. They resided in Kingsley, IA for 37 years. Brian worked at Alton Rendering for 33 years. From there he went on to drive truck, most recently with Hawkeye Distribution until he retired due to declining health.
During his time in Kingsley, Brian was extremely loyal to the community, serving on KCAC and the Kingsley Fire Department. Brian had a servant’s heart, always known to lend a helping hand, whether it be family, friends or the community. He was a member of Sts. Isidore & Maria Catholic Parish where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Brian enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting and working with his hands.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy, sons, Tim (Kristi) and Jeremy (Jessica) Gesink, Sioux Center, IA, daughters, Jennifer Bald, Sioux Falls, SD, Melissa (Doug) Wurth, Kingsley, and Denise (Scott) Wilson, Sioux City, IA. Mother, Audrey Gesink, Orange City, IA, mother-in-law, Mariana Schnee, Alton, IA. Grandchildren, Shalee (Austin) Hofman, Madison Wurth, Sydney Gesink, Nyiah Gesink, Ethan & Ty Gesink, Taya Gesink, Karson Gesink, Kaitlyn Bald, Xander Wurth, Makai Gesink, Brooklyn Bald and Kash Gesink, great grandchildren, Kezden and Kovey Hofman. Sisters, Barb (Stee) Maxwell, Sue (Terry) Louwerse and Sheri (Mick) Schafer, Sister-in-law, Gina (Mike) Kleinhesselink, brother-in-law, Dan Schnee, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer, sister, Peggy Bolluyt, father-in-law, Bill Schnee, niece, Stacy Davey and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the KCAC, Kingsley Fire Dept. and Ambulance Service or to the charity of your choice.
