Eloise J. Herbold, 89, of Pierson, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton, Iowa. Eloise was born June 15, 1925, Grand Meadow Township, rural Washta, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Martha (Schroeder) Dawson. She grew up in the Grand Meadow area graduating from Grand Meadow High School in 1942. She married Loran Herbold January 25, 1944 in Luverne, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in the Grand Meadow area until moving to Pierson, Iowa in 1963. Eloise worked as a telephone operator, a clerk at Farmers Savings bank, and as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Coop in Pierson. Eloise was a lifetime member of the Meadow Star Methodist Church where she held various offices, and she was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Robert) Neustrom of Moville, Iowa, two granddaughters, Michelle (Steve) Brown and Sheila (Rick) Volk both of Omaha, Nebraska, great-grandchildren, Camille and Alec Brown, Olivia, Ava and Lilly Volk. Also, one brother, Arnie (Kathy) Dawson of Washta, Iowa.Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Judy Herbold, husband, Loran, and a sister, Elaine Dawson.
