Glenn Robert
Bappe
Mar 5, 1934 — Aug 18, 2026
Kingsley, Iowa
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Glenn Robert Bappe of Kingsley, Iowa passed peacefully on August 18th, 2026 at the age of 92.
There will be no services held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley, Iowa.
Glenn was born to Grace (Bartels) and Robert Bappe on March 5, 1934 on a farm in rural Kingsley, IA. In fact, he was born in the same house he lived throughout his life and loved to joke that "he didn't make it too far in life." He attended country school through the 8th grade and then moved on to high school at Woodbury Central. There he found joy in sports, fast cars and the prettiest girl in his class, that he would later go on to marry.
In 1954 Glenn enlisted in the US Army completing Basic Training at Ft. Riley Kansas. After a catastrophic training accident/injury he was later transferred to Ft. Benning Georgia where he served as a military police officer. In 1956, Glenn returned from the service and married his high school sweetheart Maryann Schuldt. They made their home on the Bappe family farm and set about building a successful farming operation. Maryann and Glenn welcomed two children, Scott and Karen.
Anyone who knows Glenn knew that in addition to farming, his true passion was anything with WHEELS! From the time he was a teenager he caught the "car bug" and that passion continued until the day he died. He spent countless hours tracking down rare parts, scrounging through salvage yards, sorting through swap meets , and dragging his poor wife to every car show in the country. Glenn could take old rusted parts, tattered interiors, and worn wires and turn it into Grand National Champion automobiles.
Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and his mother and father-in-law. He is survived by his son Scott (Kari) and his daughter Karen as well as his grandchildren Connor, Ian, Mari, Emily, Christian, Natalia, and Vlad. Glenn was also the proud papa to three Great Grandchildren, Norah, Quinn and Jordy.
