Pierson, Iowa - Kenneth Harm, 82, of Pierson, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Johnson – Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa. Rev. Bill Cotton will officiate. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Pierson at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley with the family present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends. There will also be one hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to services on Saturday.
Kenneth Harm was born on October 2, 1929 at Pierson, Iowa, the son of Fritz and Marjorie (Culler) Harm. He attended school in Pierson, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1947. Kenny enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served until his honorable discharge on December 24, 1952. While on leave from the service, Kenny and Phyllis Arlene Delambert were united in marriage on December 24, 1951. They were blessed with three children. Throughout his life Kenny farmed and worked at the blacksmith shop.
Kenny enjoyed sports and played baseball, softball, basketball, golfed and bowled. He devoted much of his free time volunteering at the Pierson Golf Course by rebuilding mowers and performing maintenance. He was also an avid outdoorsman and liked to fish and hunt, especially bow hunting. Kenny was a volunteer fireman for over 25 years and a sixty year member of the Harrison F. Pedersen American Legion Post #291 in Pierson.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Tom Harm of Omaha, NE; a daughter, Jill Baumann and her husband Chuck of Washta, IA; grandsons, Andy Puttmann and his fiancé Pauline Vales, Ben Puttmann and his wife Jen and their daughter Ellie, Tucker Baumann, Tom Harm Jr. and his daughter Alex, Cory Harm and his son Gabe; a sister, Donna Seablom of Pierson, IA; a brother, Larry Harm and his wife Deanna of Bettendorf, IA; a sister, Sandra Wright of Correctionville, IA; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Jessen of Kingsley, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis on September 28, 2003; a son, Richard in 1977; a grandson Nicholas Harm; and a nephew, Jeff Harm.
