Jack Hons, 94, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at his home. To abide by his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
Jack Hons was born on September 6, 1929, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Sadie (Miller) Hons. He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1947.
On September 14, 1947, Jack and Jerra Vonn Herbold were united in marriage at Vermillion, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Kingsley until 1956 when they moved to California. They remained there until retiring in 1987, and then returned to Kingsley.
Jack was an avid golfer, fisherman and pheasant hunter. He served on City Council for 12 years and the board of the Brookside Golf Club for 3 years.
He is survived by her children and their spouses, Kimberly and Craig Notch of Torrance, CA, Cory and Sharon Hons of Torrance, CA, and Todd and Diane Hons of Litchfield Park, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerra on March 15, 2010; two sons and their wives, Randy and Donna Hons and Joel and Kathy Hons; grandsons, Timothy and John; grandson-in-law, Randy Houghton; brothers, Max and Ronald; sisters, Evelyn Smith and Marjorie Larkin; brothers-in-law, Clyde Smith, Jerry Larkin, Verle Barwick and Charles Anstine; and a nephew, Ken Tripp.
