Celesta Krieg

Kingsley, Iowa - Celesta M. Krieg, 86, of Kingsley, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Roger Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will start at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:30 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
Celesta Maxine Featherston was born on May 27, 1925 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Gregg and Mabel (Dempster) Featherston. Celesta graduated from Union High School, rural Remsen, Iowa and attended Wayne State Teacher’s College in Wayne, Nebraska.
On March 2, 1945, Celesta and Philip Krieg were united in marriage at her parent’s home The couple made their home near Kingsley, Iowa where together they farmed and raised their five children. In later years, winters were spent in Queen Valley, Arizona. Celesta and Phil enjoyed golfing, dancing and socializing with other snowbirds.
Celesta was a past member of Union Presbyterian Church where she taught Bible and Sunday School. She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church. Celesta was also a past member of P.E.O. She was proud to be the wife of a farmer. One of her greatest joys was cooking for and entertaining family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Celesta will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Philip; sons, John and his wife Karen of North Pole, Alaska, Ken and his wife Sandy of Kingsley, IA, Jim and Kathy of Cedar Falls, IA, Dave and Shelly of Kingsley, IA; a daughter-in-law Ann of Scottsdale, AZ; 16 grandchildren, Jenny Solis, Chad Krieg, Kyle Bradish, (children of Phil Jr.), Maggie Samson, Todd Krieg, Rachel St. John (children of John), Kevin Krieg, Kim Knaack, Chris Krieg (children of Ken), Becky Krieg, Michael Krieg, Katie Krieg (children of Jim), Alisha Krieg, Korey Krieg, Kelsey Krieg and Kyler Krieg (children of Dave); 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Phil Jr. on December 24, 2007; two brothers, Lauren and Jerry Featherston; and two nephews.
