Pearl Ella Linden was born on April 14, 1917 in Rutland Township, Woodbury County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence G. and Elizabeth A. (Lancaster) Taylor. She attended country school near her farm home and later graduated from Pierson High School in 1934. Following graduation, Pearl worked as a reporter for the Pierson Progress Newspaper. She also assisted her family on the farm and neighbors with housekeeping and raising their children.
On April 2, 1946, Pearl and William Edward Linden were united in marriage at the Congregational Church in Kingsley, Iowa. They made their home at various towns in the Midwest prior to moving to Pierson, Iowa in the early 50’s. They later lived in Odebolt, Iowa until moving to their final home in Moville, Iowa in 1966. Along with homemaking, Pearl worked as a home health care assistant. She became a resident at Westwood Nursing and Rehab on September 14, 2012.
While living on the farm, Pearl enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. This hobby continued throughout the years and she received numerous awards for her canning and floral arrangements at the Woodbury and Clay County fairs. Pearl also enjoyed bird watching and caring for her houseplants, especially her African Violets. She and Bill enjoyed traveling during their retirement with their most memorable as a trip to Alaska.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years, Bill of Moville, Iowa; a son, Norman Linden and his wife Theresa of Wallingford, Iowa; a daughter, Grace Linden and her special friend Wayne Lindgren of Sioux City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Lisa McDaniel, Angela (Robert) Mitchell, Shane (Deyra) Rix, Corabeth (special Friend Rob Tannenbaum) Linden, Ryan McDaniel; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clifford (Gilberta) Taylor, Orren (Leota) Taylor, George (Thelma) Taylor, Edward (Alice) Taylor, Victor Taylor, Charles (Ann) Taylor, Lloyd Taylor, Harold Taylor; sisters, Maud (Henry) Pierce, Nellie (Ed) Campbell, Elizabeth Alice Taylor.
