Mary Lynn Timmins, age 71 of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025 at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, IA. Burial will be at a later date at Banner Cemetery in Lawton, IA. Visitation with family present will be 9:30-11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.
Mary was born March 2, 1954 in Sioux City, IA the daughter of Stanley & C. Doris (Law) Monckton. She was raised in Lawton and attended Lawton-Bronson High School graduating in 1972. After high school she attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating in1973. She was then employed at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. She then worked at Harris Janitorial in Sioux City where she met the love of her life Patrick Timmins.
On May 17, 1975 she married Patrick Timmins at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton , IA. The couple made their home near Lawton for a year before they purchased an acreage near Sioux City, IA where they have lived ever since. Over the years she did bookkeeping at Grace United Methodist Church, Stannek Incorporated, FiberComm and State Farm before retiring 2016.
Mary was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, IA. She loved raising and riding horses. She also enjoyed reading, crochet, puzzles, camping, playing cards and especially cherished her time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Patrick of Sioux City, IA; her three sons, David (Stacy) Timmins of Ponder, TX, Kyle (Kristine) Timmins of Lawton, IA, Barry (Charisa) Timmins of Iowa City, IA; seven grandkids, Nathan, Kaylynn, Avery, Tate, Hayden, Marlon, Quinn; one great-great grandchild on the way; her twin brother, Geary (Rita) Monckton of Houston, TX; her in-laws, Gerard (Jan) Timmins of Colorado Springs, CO, Gale Timmins of Athens, GA, Sheila (Chris) Rich of Clive, IA.
She was preceded her parent’s; sister-in-law, Tricia Timmins.
