Bob Mathers, 84, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, surrounded by his family. As per Bob’s wishes, there will be no services. Bobby G. Mathers was born on February 19, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Ella (Jaacks) Mathers. He married Bonnie Christophersen in 1948 at the Kingsley United Methodist Church in Kingsley, Iowa. To this union, four children were born.
Bob was employed as chief plant engineer for Swift and Company for over 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, card playing, and spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie, of Kingsley, Iowa; 4 children, Patti Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa, Bill (Linda) Mathers of Cushing, Iowa, Jackie Vehe of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mick (Diana) Mathers of Nixa, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Norma (Neal) Pinkerton, Evelyn Woodall, Janice (Wayne) Pfaffle, and Marge (Bill) Laddusaw; 1 brother, Wayne Mathers, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Mathers; sister, Helen Bolton; and brothers-in-law, Jack Woodall and George Bolton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the family.
