Kingsley, Iowa - Robert P. Mockler, 81, of Kingsley, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at this home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley, Iowa. Rev. Mark J. Stoll and Rev. Thomas Topf will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery with military honors performed by Nash American Legion Post #140. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Bob’s grandchildren.
Robert Patrick Mockler was born on October 5, 1930 in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Edward and Pearl (Feeney) Mockler. He graduated from Union Consolidated High School, rural Le Mars, Iowa in 1948. Robert was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He earned his honorable discharge in December of 1953. After the service he began a lifelong career in farming. Bob and Mary Lou Junck were united in marriage on February 23, 1954 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley. In the early 1980’s, Bob was joined by his sons Dan and Alan in the farming operation.
Bob was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Nash American Legion Post #140 in Kingsley. In his spare time Bob enjoyed reading.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou of Kingsley; children, Bill (LoAnn) Mockler of Minneapolis, MN, LeAnne (Rob) Collins of Hartley, IA, Linda (Carl) Bliss of San Diego, CA, Lois Mockler of Marshall, MN, Dan Mockler of Kingsley, IA, Alan Mockler of Kingsley, IA, Andrea (Dave) Sitzmann of Sherburn, MN; eight grandchildren Ben Collins, Nate (Michelle) Collins, Jon Collins, Meghan (Tom) Bliss, Hannah Bliss, Carly Bliss, Samantha Sitzmann, Mitchell Sitzmann; two great-grandchildren, Alison Bliss and Madison Bliss; a brother Paul Mockler of Kansas City, KS; a sister, Mary Anne (Wayne) Case of Iowa City, IA; in-laws Bernard Junck of Hinton, IA, Duane (Pat) Junck of Kingsley and Connie Junck of Kingsley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Jim and Jack Mockler.
