Jr. was born Sept. 17, 1971 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Talofa Sr. & VaiVai (Tupua) Finauga. He was a loving and genuine man whose kindness and sincerity were felt by all who knew him. His love for the Lord and his family was deep. Much of his life was spent alongside his beloved mother, Vai Vai Finauga, and the bond they shared was truly one of a kind. While his father, Talofa (Sr) Finauga lived afar Jr always cherished his younger years spent with him and reflected often.
A man of few words, Jr spoke from the heart, and when he did, his words were always filled with love. He treasured time spent with family and especially enjoyed gathering together for summer BBQs.
He attended New Life Baptist Church in Kingsley, IA led by Pastor Ken Kraft and was inspired to turn his life around and make better choices. This was where he found his peace.
In more recent years, Jr found great joy in advocating for local youth through Midwest Christian Services with his good friend Chris in Peterson, Iowa. He valued building genuine relationships with the youth, offering them hope and understanding. He was someone they could relate to, and he truly loved being there for them.
Jr will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his quiet strength, humble heart, and the unconditional love he shared with his family.
As the oldest of five, Jr took great pride in being a big brother and cherished each of his siblings dearly. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Lillian “Lil” Finauga and Utulei “Lei” McKenzie (Larry McKenzie), and his brothers, Leem Finauga (Tawny Finauga) and Raymond Hunter.
Although Jr did not have children of his own, his love for his nieces and nephews knew no bounds. He adored Sophia “Fia” Finauga (fiancé Phong Nguyen), Deasha “Deash” Goulette (Delmer Goulette), Vanessa “Ness” McKenzie (CeCe McKenzie), Larry Jr. McKenzie (Janae McKenzie), Marley McKenzie, John “Johnny” McKenzie, Talofa “TJ” McKenzie, Madden Finauga, Major “Maj” Finauga, Faith “Faithy” Finauga, Alofa “Lofa” Goulette, and Faatagaalofa “Taga” McKenzie.
