Tammi Jo “Gydesen” Herbold, age 64 of Correctionville, Iowa, went to her rest on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Sioux City, Iowa. Tammi fought a number of serious ailments including rheumatoid arthritis, two bouts with cancer, and COPD. She stubbornly refused to give in until she could no longer contend. She was comforted by her loving husband, Kent and other family members at her death.
Celebration of Life will be 7 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2026 at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kinglsey, IA with Pastor Lynn Dau officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2025 at Greenwood Cemetery in Pierson, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Tammi grew up in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She began her working career as an accountant in Sioux City where she met Kent. They were married on June 15, 1991 on an acreage in Hornick, IA. They lived in South Sioux City for several years before moving to Spencer, Iowa, where Tammi worked for the Spencer Library. After a bout with lung cancer, Tammi went to college at Buena Vista where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She then worked on the mental health floor at the Spencer Hospital. She and Kent then moved to Kent’s family farm near Correctionville, Iowa.
Tammi was preceded in death by her father, Herbert “Slim” (Arlene) Gydesen of Minatare, Nebraska, and her mother, Velda Gydesen of Beatrice, Nebraska and her father-in-law Al Herbold.
She is survived by her husband Kent of Correctionville, IA; her four children, Corey Lee and fiance Brianna Orcutt of Sioux Falls, SD, Brett (Christine) Herbold of Remsen, IA, Candi (Curt) Lee of Vermilion, SD, Chanel (Jeremy) Tongish of Dakota City, NE; she is also survived by granddaughters Liz, Emilee, Ashley, and Abby and grandsons Weston, Jared, and Jace; her siblings, Michael Gydesen of Sioux Falls, SD, Perry (Sharon) Gydesen of Odell, NE, Karmen (James) Hodgdon of Cherokee, IA, Kristy (Steve) Nelson of Chamberlain, SD; Mother -in-Law Diana Herbold, and several nieces and nephews
Honorary bearers will be Dave Gregor, Brett Herbold, Corey Lee, Jared Lee and Teagan Gydesen.
Tammi dearly loved her friends and family. When she was able, she enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardens, and the critters—especially cardinals. She was a joy to us all and will be missed very much.
