Terry Joe Mahrt, age 87, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at his home in Kingsley.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 13, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, IA with Pastor Jason Letsche officiating. Visitation with family present will be 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 12, 2025, at Kingsley Funeral Home and Monument in Kingsley, IA. www.kingsleyfh.com

Terry Joe was born to Harry and Jennie (Hodgen) Mahrt on May 14, 1938, on his grandparents farm in Cherokee County. He attended Kingsley Public School graduating in 1957. He was an outstanding football player and earned MVP honors his senior year. One of his happiest days was when he met the love of his life, Diane (Groth).

Terry was baptized and confirmed in faith at the First Lutheran Church in February of 1958.

He and Diane were married at First Lutheran Church June 21, 1959. They were blessed with four children, Todd, Tami, Tim, and Travis.

Throughout his working years he was employed at Page Silo, farmed his Grandparents' ground, then moved on to North American Manufacturing (Schaeff) as a welder then became a pattern maker for agricultural and industrial equipment. He left there due to health reasons and started working for Rolling Oil as the bulk truck driver, he later was employed by the Kingsley-Pierson School District as a groundskeeper until his retirement.

Terry was known for being a practical joker and a tease, which sometimes got him into trouble!

Terry never was one to sit still. He enjoyed many activities with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed going to the sporting events at the school.

His pride and joy had always been his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Diane of 66 years; his children, Todd, Tami, Tim (Suzy), and Travis (Stacie) Mahrt; his grandchildren, Brittany (Cameron) Bowman, Breanna Mahrt, Dexter (Katie) Mahrt, Dallin (Samantha) Mahrt, DeAndra (Michael) Wright, Levi Mahrt, Kellsi (Garrett) Schoen, Jayden Wurth; great-grandchildren, Remi, Brexley, Malakai, Decker, Lee and Legend; In-laws, Darnell Clausen, Denise and Denny Dugan, Donita and Dave Murray; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Jennie Mahrt; in-laws, Glenn and Wilma Groth, Duane Groth, and Clair Clausen.
