Thomas Marvin Ray, 78, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away on June 9, 2026, reuniting with his beautiful wife, Marsha in Heaven after her recent passing.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley with Pastor Heath Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Kingsley Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Nash Post 140 of Kingsley. Visitation with family present will be 2:30-3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Tom was born in Onawa, IA, on October 21, 1947, to Marvin ‘Dick' and Faye (Polly) Ray of Onawa, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Kingsley, Iowa, graduating from from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1966. Tom attended Fort Dodge Junior College one year and then joined the 133rd National Guard Unit and served with the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam.

On December 28, 1968, Tom married Marsha Bahrke at the Pierson Christian Church. The couple made their home in Kingsley, where they raised their family. Tom was a proud farmer. He loved his time farming with his dad, Dick, especially their time working at their farm in Elk Point, SD. The farm became a gathering place for family and friends during the summer and fall months. Rides around the farm in the evening were a regular occurrence and cherished by all. Elk Point was a second “home” for Tom and family, with many wonderful friendships made over the years. Season ending harvest parties were simply the best. Tom loved celebrating the blessings from another season of farming with the people he loved. In addition to spending time at the farm, he and Marsha loved traveling to visit friends and family in Washington, Arizona, and Nevada. Those trips would always include making their way to Las Vegas for a few days of gambling and shows. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s activities and events. He loved to read and made many trips to the Kingsley Public library.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mike (Devi) Ray of Ida Grove, IA; Matt (Alisha Marquardt) Ray of Burlington, WA; and Mindy (Cory) Dunne of Kingsley, IA; and his nine grandchildren, Colby (Michael) Eason and their children, Taytum, Jaxdan, and Rowan; Landon Ray; Allyson (Duke) Schaplow and their daughter, Ella; Anna Ray; Adria Ray; Amelia Ray; Camryn (Zane) Seuser and their daughters, Gloria and Violet; Hayden Dunne and fiancé, Austin Feddersen; and Liam Dunne.

He is also survived by his Siblings, Patty (Doyle) Parrish of Dakota City, NE, Jackie Stanfield of Salix, IA, and Kevin Ray of Sioux Falls, SD; In-laws, Pat (James) Paulette of Angleton, TX, Ken (Joyce) Bahrke of Grimes, IA, Karl (Julie) Bahrke of Alton, IA, Barb (Donovan) Hansen of Smithland, IA and Bev (Clyde) Christiansen of Storm Lake, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife Marsha on April 5, 2026, his parents, Dick and Faye Ray, Parents-in-law Robert and Donna Bahrke, Brother; Jerry Walker Ray, and brother-in-law; Frank Stanfield
